Emergency Colic Surgery for Wise Dan

Reigning Horse of the Year Wise Dan (Wisemanís Ferry) is undergoing emergency colic surgery at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital this morning according to multiple reports. The two-time Horse of the Year and winner of Churchillís GI Woodford Reserve Turf Classic S. most recently May 3, galloped as usual at Keeneland before exhibiting signs of discomfort later that morning. The chestnut record stands at 29-21-2-0 and $6,802,920 in earnings.

Update: Wise Dan pulled through surgery†well and is now in recovery HRTV reported around noon. The chestnut's small intestine had been twisted, but veterinarians had been able to straighten that section.
