IFHA Takes Zero-Tolerance Stance On Altrenogest

Updated: November 8, 2019 at 4:01 pm

On the basis of a detailed report from technical committees that the altrenogest-containing products trendione, trenbolone and epitrenbolone (anabolic androgenic steroids) are not endogenous substances, the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities has taken a zero-tolerance stance against these substances “irrespective of the potential cause of their presence.”

The IFHA stated in a Nov. 8 release that, should these “major doping agents” be detected in a sample at any level, it must be counted as a prohibited substance violation and acted upon accordingly by the respective racing authority.
