Adena Springs's Frank Stronach has been active at the top end of the market in the opening days of the breeding stock sales and continued his aggressive bidding, going to $1.25 million for 2007 GI Alabama S. winner Lady Joanne (f, 4, Orientate) yesterday at Keeneland. The attractive bay filly, consigned by Gainesway as agent for the continuing dispersal of the stock of Bentley L. Smith, is carrying her first foal by Gainesway stallion Mr. Greeley. Lady Joanne is a half-sister to treble Grade III winner Baghdaria (Royal Academy).
