He's the Mon: Maria's Mon Yearling Brings $390,000

A short yearling by the late Maria's Mon elicited a bid of $390,000 from Jimmy Gladwell to lead the early action during Wednesday's third session of the Keeneland January sale. The chestnut colt, produced by La Cucina (Ire) (Last Tycoon {Ire}), is a half-brother to Grade II winner Sir Cherokee (Cherokee Run) and recent GII Falls City H. heroine Miss Isella (Silver Charm). Gladwell signed the ticket as Ferguson Valley Ranch and said the colt would be re-offered at auction later in the year.
