Acting on behalf of owners John Magnier, Derrick Smith and Michael Tabor, bloodstock agent Demi O'Byrne outlasted the competition for hip 190, a son of Smart Strike, for a session-topping bid of $825,000. Eddie Woods consigned the striking bay colt, a half-brother to SW Mr. Pee Vee (Eltish) and GISP Erinsouthernman (Eltish), on behalf of IEAH Stables, which went to $200,000 for the February foal at last year's Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling sale. According to O'Byrne, it is the first time they have reached out for an offspring of the Lane's End stallion, sire of North America's all-time earnings leader Curlin and champion English Channel, among others.
