No time was wasted Tuesday evening getting to the good stuff at the Fasig-Tipton Selected Yearling Sale in Saratoga. The very first horse through the ring during the second session, a colt by A.P. Indy out of sprint champion Maryfield (Elusive Quality), elicited a bid of $1.2 million from trainer Todd Pletcher. Pletcher signed the ticket for Besilu Stables. The Feb. 3-foaled bay was consigned by Bluewater Sales as hip 101. Bluewater was offering the colt on behalf of his breeder, Mike Moreno's Southern Equine Stables, which had acquired Maryfield as a broodmare prospect for $1.25 million at the 2007 Fasig-Tipton November Sale. This was Maryfield's first foal. Maryfield won the inaugural Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint in 2007 and also won the GI Ballerina S. at Saratoga.
