A filly from the first crop of champion War Pass (Cherokee Run) which hails from a deep and prominent Niarchos female family was hammered down to Mike Pegram for $400,000 as the Keeneland September sale resumed Saturday in Lexington. Consigned by Lane's End as agent for the filly's breeder Hilbert Thorougbreds and Menard Thoroughbreds, hip 1290 is a daughter of Avenging Tomisue (Belong to Me), dam of SW Striking Tomisue (Smart Strike). The progeny of the late War Pass have proved popular this week at Keeneland, and hip 1290 was the fourth by his sire to achieve a six-figure pricetag.
