A colt by Bernardini out of Jolie Boutique (Northern Jove) led the early returns at the Fasig-Tipton Florida Sale after touching off a bidding war that ended with John Ferguson's successful $875,000 offer. The Darley rep, who was at Fasig earlier in the week, reportedly is back in Dubai, deputizing David Loder to handle the bidding duties. The colt was consigned by Harltey/De Renzo Thoroughbreds, which had acquired the May 20 foal for $325,000 at last year's Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale. The colt is a half-brother to SW & GSP Millennium Storm (Future Storm) and SP Merrill Gold (Gold Fever). His dam is a half to Grade II winner Mindy Gayle (Cutlass).
