Owned, bred and trained by C. R. Trout, Oklahoma-bred Shotgun Gulch (m, 5, Thunder Gulch–Rosieville, by Boston Harbor) registered the most valuable victory of her career in the GI Vinery Madison S. in the spring of 2011. She returned to Keeneland Tuesday, carrying a foal by Bernardini, and the results were spectacular for Trout, who watched his prized possession get scooped up by the Mandore International Agency for $1.6 million. Shotgun Gulch, a five-time stakes winner of $528,976, was consigned to the November sale by Taylor Made.
