About an hour after going to $600,000 for a filly from the final crop of Indian Charlie, Barry Irwin added a beautifully bred colt to his Fasig-Tipton Saratoga grab, going to $875,000 for a Bluewater Sales-consigned colt by Medaglia d'Oro. A Jan. 25 foal, hip 33οΎ is a son of Crystal Current (A.P. Indy), a stakes-winning daughter of MGISW Dream Supreme (Seeking the Gold), making her a full-sister to the good young sire Majestic Warrior. Hip 33 was bred by Mike Moreno's Southern Equine Stables, which went to $3.1 million to acquire the dam at this auction house's November Mixed Sale back in 2008. This same cross produced GI Kentucky Derby heroine Plum Pretty.
