The dispersal of the racing and breeding stock of the wildly successful Robsham Stable is widely expected to be one of the highlights of the Keeneland November Sale, and the operation's GI Spinaway S. winner R Heat Lightning (m, 5, Trippi) was the first to make headlines during Tuesday's opening session of the sale. Offered in foal to Bernardini, the attractive bay mare, also runner-up in the GI Frizette S. and GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies in 2010 and winner of the GII Gulfstream Park Oaks the following spring, was purchased by Barbara Banke's Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings for $1.6 million. R Heat Lightning's first foal, a weanling filly by Medaglia d'Oro, followed her into the ring, fetching a final bid of $250,000 from Dell Ridge Farm. All Robsham horses are being sold without reserve.
