Maria' Awesome to the Tune of $4M at KEENOV

One of the best racemares to bear the gold-and-red silks of Mr. & Mrs. Paul Robsham, Awesome Maria (m, 6, Maria's Mon) was the subject of a protracted bidding duel in front and in back, settling on a final bid of $4-million from Team Coolmore. A daughter of Discreetly Awesome (Awesome Again), whose dam Pretty Discreet (Private Account) won the GI Alabama S. by eight lengths in 1995 and has since gone on to produce the likes of Discreet Cat (Forestry), Awesome Maria lived up to her moniker, with nine victories from 16 career appearances, including the GI Ogden Phipps H. in 2011 and an eight-length success over champion Royal Delta (Empire Maker) in the 2012 GIII Sabin S.ï¾ Awesome Mariaï¾ retired to the breeding shed with earnings of $1,114,875 and was sold carrying her first foal by Coolmore sire Giant's Causeway.
