Walmac Adds GSP Eastwood to Roster

The young stallion Eastwood (Speightstown–Fifth Avenue Ball, by Deputy Minister), whose first foals are 2-year-olds of 2022, has been relocated from Pennsylvania's Diamond B Farm to Gary Broad's Walmac Farm in Kentucky. Walmac recently announced Core Beliefs (Quality Road) would be the first stallion to stand at the historic farm since Broad bought it in 2018.

Eastwood closed out his racing career for Louise and Kiki Courtelis's Town and Country Farms, who bought him for $800,000 at the 2013 Fasig-Tipton Summer Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale, with a record of 12-4-2-2 and earnings of $265,545. In addition to his four visits to the winner's circle, he was also runner-up in the 2017 GIII Los Angeles S.

With only small crops to date, Eastwood has been represented by just one yearling to sell from his first crop of yearlings. That was a colt out of Basket Stitch (Tiznow), who sold at last year's Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Fall Yearling Sale to Ben Gowans, agent, for $45,000, or 18 times his stud fee. Eastwood will stand at Walmac for $2,500, stands and nurses.
