Coolmore, which secured a Gian?s Causeway colt for $1.15 million at the Barretts March Sale, struck again with another seven-figure purchase. Hip 230, a Malibu Moon colt was hammered down for $1.3 million by the contingent at the half-way point in the sale. Bred by Machmer Hall, the bay was purchased by Grand Oaks for $200,000 as a yearling at FTSAUG. He received a timely pedigree update when 3/4 sister Spellbound (Bernardini) won the GII La Canada S. Jan. 19, and his breeze in :10 flat helped his popularity his second time around the ring.
