Night Lagoon (Ger) (Lagunas {GB}), the dam of Novellist (Ire) (Monsun {Ger}), had her fair share of admirers Mondy evening at the Newtown Paddocks, as the 13-year-old mare, carrying a foal by leading sire War Front, was hammered down toﾠBBA Irelandﾠfor $1.7 million. Consigned by Lane's End, agent, Night Lagoon was herself the champion of her generation in Germany and produced Novellist as her fourth foal. That colt would go on to win Group 1 races in Germany, Italy, France and landed the G1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth S. in England.
