Fastnet Rock was the early star once again at Easter Wednesday when a colt by the champion sire fetched A$1.35 million from Coolmoreﾒs Tom Magnier, who revealed the colt would be raced in partnership with Stonestreet Stables; Greg and Donna Kolivos, who campaigned juvenile champion Pierro (Aus) (Lonhro {Aus}); and Neil Werrett. The colt has a stallionﾒs pedigree, being out of a half-sister to Snitzel (Aus) (Redouteﾒs Choice {Aus}) and exciting young sire Hinchinbrook (Aus) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}). He will be trained by Pierroﾒs former trainer Gai Waterhouse.
Moments earlier, another youngster breached the million-dollar barrier when a Redouteﾒs Choice filly (lot 247) hammered to Japanﾒs Takaya Shimakawa for A$1.1 million. Consigned by Arrowfield Stud, she is a half-sister to Horse of the Year Weekend Hussler (Aus) (Hussonet).
