It was set on Tuesday and equaled twice since then, but the OBS June record was finally broken during Friday's final session of the four-day auction when Donato Lanni, bidding on behalf of Susan Chu, bid $680,000 to secure a colt by Candy Ride (Arg). The youngster, who worked a bullet furlong in :9 4/5 last week, is a full-brother to graded stakes placed Holy Candy. His second dam is Grade I winner Lunar Spook (Silver Ghost). The juvenile was bred by John Sikura's Hill 'n' Dale Equine Holdings, which purchased the mare with this foal in utero for $52,000 at the 2012 Keeneland November sale. Chu's Tanma Corporation campaigned graded stakes winner Super Ninety Nine.
