Treve Plans Outlined
TREVE PLANS OUTLINED
Connections of Treve (Fr) (Motivator {GB}), winner of last year’s G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and yesterday revealed as the co-highest rated horse in the world of 2013 with a mark of 130, have outlined plans for their star filly for 2014. The Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al Thani silkbearer will look to open her season in Longchamp’s G1 Prix Ganay Apr. 27, followed by a first trip outside her native France for Royal Ascot’s G1 Prince of Wales’s S. June 18. The just-turned 4-year-old will then aim for title defenses in Longchamp’s G1 Prix Vermeille and G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
“The initial plan with [trainer] Criquette [Head-Maarek], which of course could change, is to go for the Prix Ganay and then on to Royal Ascot for the Prince of Wales’s Stakes,” Sheikh Joaan’s Racing Manager, Harry Herbert, told Racing Post. “Then Treve would have a prep race for the Arc in the Vermeille, and then the Arc itself–so it’s likely to be a four-race campaign again.”
Treve is unbeaten in five outings, including a victory in the G1 Prix de Diane last year in her third start, where she beat eventual G1 Irish Oaks winner Chicquita (Ire) (Montjeu {Ire}) by four lengths. She was purchased privately by Sheikh Joaan after that effort from her breeder, the Head family’s Haras du Quesnay.
