Sheikh Fahad Buys Into Australian Sprinter Zoustar

SHEIKH FAHAD BUYS INTO ZOUSTAR
Sheikh Fahad al Thani has purchased a share in the exciting Australian sprinter Zoustar (Aus) (Northern Meteor {Aus}). Winner of the G1 Golden Rose S. at the beginning of his 3-year-old campaign in September, Zoustar was purchased by Widden Stud just days before his victory in the prestigious G1 Coolmore Stud S. during the Melbourne Cup Carnival. The remainder of Zoustar’s career is expected to include three starts in Australia, beginning with the G1 Canterbury S. at Randwick Mar. 15, before a trip to Royal Ascot. He is expected to retire to Widden Stud at the conclusion of his 3-year-old campaign. Trained by Chris Waller, Zoustar will race in the Qatar Bloodstock colors.
Sheikh Fahad told ANZ Bloodstock News: “I was able to inspect Zoustar with my bloodstock advisor David Redvers following his dominant win in the Coolmore Stud S. at Flemington. This colt represents everything that is great about Australian horses. He is strong, masculine and incredibly fast, and I am very excited about the prospects of him racing in Europe and ultimately retiring to stud.”
Widden Stud’s Antony Thompson told Racing Post: “We would love to take [Zoustar] to England to compete. He is the sort of horse that could run in either the [G1 King’s Stand or G1 Golden Jubilee S.], though we could also try for both. Depending on what happens at Royal Ascot he could also have a tilt at the July Cup.”
Sheikh Fahad recorded one of his first big-race victories in the G1 Melbourne Cup in 2011 courtesy of Dunaden (Fr) (Nicobar {GB}), and he has since regularly traveled horses to the country’s biggest races.
