Familiar Faces in GG Winner’s Circle

A similar result to this had played out before, when Tamarando out-kicked Dance With Fate in the GI Del Mar Futurity in September. He could only muster a third-place finish–one spot behind his familiar foe–when far back early in the GI FrontRunner S. at Santa Anita Sept. 28. Third as the chalk over a speed-favoring surface in Arcadia’s Golden State Juvenile S. Nov. 1, the dark bay got back on track with a sweeping victory in Hollywood’s Nov. 23 Real Quiet S. He was third behind the formidable pair of Shared Belief (Candy Ride {Arg}) and Candy Boy (Candy Ride {Arg}) in Inglewood’s GI CashCall Futurity S. Dec. 14, and was second in Santa Anita’s Cal Cup Derby Jan. 25. Unhurried early by Baze behind splits of :24.40 and :49.73, Tamarando whipped his way past rivals along the home bend and kept on coming to reel in Dance With Fate as the winning line loomed.
Larry and Marianne Williams, who own Tree Top Ranches in Parma, Idaho, campaigned Tamarando’s graded stakes-placed dam, as well as his stakes-winning half-brothers Luckarack and U’narack. Tamarando has 2-year-old and yearling half-brothers by Lucky Pulpit, who stands as property of the Williams’ at Harris Farm in California.
