Graded Test Likely Next for Atreides
Undefeated “TDN Rising Star” Atreides (Medaglia d’Oro), a 17 1/2-length winner of last Saturday’s Monarchos S. at Gulfstream Park, will likely tackle graded company in his next start. “We’re looking at all our options,” trainer Marty Wolfson said of the Stonestreet homebred. “We’re looking at the [GII] Indiana [Derby Oct. 4] or maybe the [GII] Kelso [at Belmont Sept. 27]. I don’t know. We’re not sure.” The son of the talented Dream Rush (Wild Rush) has won the first three starts of his career by a combined 25 3/4 lengths, registering Beyer Speed Figures of 105, 102 and 105, respectively. “Indiana is two turns,” Wolfson continued. “I hate to experiment two turns and ship. It’s just an option. [The Kelso] is logical. It gives us a month.”
