Gatsby Set For Rematch With Australia

G1 Prix du Jockey Club winner The Grey Gatsby (Ire) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}) will face off with G1 English and Irish Derby hero Australia (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) once again in Saturday’s G1 QIPCO Irish Champion S. at Leopardstown. The pair faced off last time in York’s G1 Juddmonte International S. Aug. 20, where Australia secured a two-length victory over The Grey Gatsby. The gray was supplemented for the Irish Champion at a cost of €75,000. “The Grey Gatsby is one of the best 3-year-olds around,” trainer Kevin Ryan told Racing Post. “He has won a French Derby and has been second to Australia, and we’ll be supplementing him for the Qipco Irish Champion S. It was an easy decision to make and everything now depends on the ground. He ran a great race last time. Australia is a fantastic racehorse, and we’ll see what happens on Saturday.”
