IT’S A GIRL FOR BLACK CAVIAR
World champion sprinter Black Caviar (Aus) (Bel Esprit {Aus}) delivered her first foal, a filly by Exceed and Excel (Aus), at an undisclosed farm in New South Wales, Australia Friday. Both mare and foal are reported to be doing well.
Unbeaten on the racetrack, Black Caviar recorded 25 victories under the care of trainer Peter Moody, including 15 Group 1s. Her lone overseas venture produced a victory in the G1 Diamond Jubilee S. at Royal Ascot.
“She was a champion on the track and she’s proved to be a champion mum with the safe arrival of her first foal overnight,” said part owner Neil Werrett. “We’re incredibly proud that she’s given birth to a filly and equally delighted that both Black Caviar and her foal are healthy and doing well. Black Caviar was the people’s horse and we are looking forward to sharing this filly’s journey with the people of Australia. It will be a long and patient road from birth to racetrack, so at this time we are reveling in the excitement of being proud parents.”
