Atreides Breezes for Indiana Derby

Sonestreet Stable's speedy  “TDN Rising Star” Atreides (Medaglia d'Oro) breezed a half-mile in :50.63 at Gulfstream Park Wednesday. “It went nice. He was nice and relaxed,” trainer Marty Wolfson said. “It was an easy half. He doesn't need fast works. He's a fast horse, and he galloped out nice.” The sophomore, who is undefeated in three lifetime starts including the Monarchos S. in August, will be pointed towards the 1 1/6-mile GII Indiana Derby Oct. 5. “I don't know[(if he'll be as effective around two turns)] but he acts like it,” Wolfson admitted. Although originally being pointed toward the GII Kelso at Belmont Sept. 27, the connections opted for Indiana instead. “It's against 3-year-olds instead of older horses and it's a faster track,” Wolfson explained. “The Belmont track is a little deep.”
