Keeneland Numbers Still Strong

Session nine of the Keeneland September Sale saw another day of strong trade yesterday with significant gains in gross, average and median. A total of 289 yearlings sold for a gross of $13,467,500, which was up from last year’s figures of 311 sold for a total of $11,179,500. The average of $46,600 increased by 29.6% since last year. The median also rose to $35,000, up 29.63% from last year’s figure of $27,000. Litt/Solis Bloodstock purchased session topper hip 2435, a filly by Scat Daddy, for $350,000 as well as hip 2655, a filly by Curlin, to become the session’s leading buyer.

Gainesway became the leading consignor with 23 yearlings selling for a total of $1,074,000. 
Throughout the nine sessions, 1,877 lots were sold for a total of $259,419,000, good for an average of $138,209, which was 5.68% lower than last year. The median rose to $80,000, 3.9% higher than in 2013.
