Mukhadram To Shadwell in 2015

MUKHADRAM TO SHADWELL IN 2015
Sheikh Hamdan’s G1 Coral-Eclipse winner Mukhadram (GB) (Shamardal–Magic Tree {UAE}, by Timber Country) will be retired from racing at the end of the season and will stand at Shadwell Stud in England in 2015.

Purchased as a foal by Shadwell for 190,000gns at Tattersalls December, Mukhadram was unraced as a 2-year-old and won twice in five starts at three. He opened his 4-year-old campaign last year with a victory in the G3 Brigadier Gerard S. prior to finishing second to Al Kazeem (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) in the G1 Prince of Wales’s S. at Royal Ascot. He was third behind that rival in the Coral-Eclipse and won the G2 York S. three weeks later. Mukhadram returned to be second in this year’s G1 Dubai World Cup, and was fourth in the Prince of Wales’s before notching a much-deserved Group 1 victory in the Coral-Eclipse. He was third behind fellow Sheikh Hamdan colorbearer Taghrooda (GB) (Sea the Stars {Ire}) in the G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth S. July 26, and has most recently finished fourth in the G1 Juddmonte International and G1 Irish Champion S.

“Mukhadram was a hugely talented and courageous colt, a top class racehorse, blessed with a wonderful temperament,” said trainer William Haggas. “He has the most gorgeous physique–a perfect specimen with a great outlook and natural, effortless stride.”

Shadwell’s Stud Director Richard Lancaster added, “Mukhadram is a Group 1 winner in the UK and has defeated a total of 49 stakes winners to date including 24 individual Group 1 winners. He will also be the first son of Shamardal to stand in the UK, and with his sire experiencing a real purple patch with 20 stakes winners in 2014 alone, Sheikh Hamdan felt now was the right time to retire him to stud. A fee has not yet been set for him, but our intention is to pitch him very fairly to attract the maximum number of mares and give him the best possible start to his stallion career.”
