Fast Anna Likely for BC Sprint
Frank Calabrese homebred Fast Anna (Medaglia d’Oro) will head to Santa Anita for the Nov. 1
GI Breeders’ Cup Sprint as long as all goes well during his breeze scheduled for Saturday morning at Gulfstream.
“So far, all the right things are happening,” said conditioner Kathy Ritvo, who became the first female trainer to win the
GI Breeders’ Cup Classic with Mucho Macho Man (Macho Uno) last year. “He’s feeling good. He’s hopping around; he’s happy and feeling well. He takes everything in stride. He ships well. He’s all class.”
A son of 2006 GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies winner and champion Dreaming of Anna (Rahy), the dark bay opened his account with a decisive win in Hallandale Apr. 12 and romped by 13 lengths next out in an allowance there July 6. A neck second after setting the pace in the GI King’s Bishop S. Aug. 23, Fast Anna completed the exacta again last time in Parx’s GIII Gallant Bob S. Sept. 20.
“He finished second last time, but I don’t think he liked the racetrack,” Ritvo commented. “But he never gave up. A lot of horses gave up that day on that track. He was still running.”
