Bluegrass Cat to Ballena Vista

Bluegrass Cat (Storm Cat–She’s A Winner, by A.P. Indy), winner of the 2006 GI Haskell Invitational S. and the sire of 22 black-type winners to date, will be relocated to Donald L. and Karen Cohn’s Ballena Vista Farm in Ramona, California, for the 2015 breeding season. He will command a fee of $6,500, stands-and-nurses terms. Racing in the colors of his breeder WinStar Farm, Bluegrass Cat was a multiple stakes winner at two and was runner-up in the GI Kentucky Derby five races and $1.7 million before retiring to stud at WinStar in 2007. He was the second-leading first-crop sire of 2010, ahead of the likes of Bernardini and War Front, and was represented that season by the graded stakes winners Kathmanblu and Sabercat. He was the number two second-crop sire the following season, with progeny earnings of better than $3.4 million. Currently, Bluegrass Cat is the sire of five black-type winners in 2014 with progeny earnings of $4.4 million, including W.L. Proctor Memorial S. winner Story To Tell. The 11-year-old stallion is out of She’s A Winner, a full-sister to Supercharger, the dam of 2014 freshman sire sensation Super Saver, as well as GSW & GISP Accelerator. A half-brother to MGSW Lord of the Game, Bluegrass Cat also hails from the female family of Grade I winners Imagining (Giant’s Causeway) and Girolamo (A.P. Indy).
