Trust In a Gust Lifts G1 Toorak H.

Trust In a Gust returned from a 4 1/2-month absence to take a Moonee Valley handicap Aug. 23, then just missed in that track’s Listed Golf S. Sept. 6. He shifted to this track for a facile victory going 1400 meters two weeks later and earned favoritism for this prestigious affair by holding off G1 Caulfield S. also-ran Dissident (Aus) (Sebring {Aus}) in the G1 Sir Rupert Clarke S. Sept. 28. Hustled along early on to take up a prominent position behind pacesetting Solicit (Aus) (Street Cry {Ire}), Trust In a Gust swept that one aside with ease a furlong and a half from the wire and dug in tenaciously in the final 30 yards for a second straight success at the top level. “He is a great racehorse and he makes his own luck,” trainer Darren Weir told AAP. “Just rolls forward outside the leader and he puts himself into the race off the corner and toughs it out really well to the line, so he is just a pleasure to train.” Trust In a Gust is out of Subtle Breeze, a 3/4-sister to Irish highweight Balanchine (Storm Bird), who fetched a bid of $140,000 when offered by Swettenham Stud at Keeneland November in 2007.
