Bridlewood Gets a Titan
Bridlewood Farm’s broodmare band grew to three after George Isaacs went to $1.1 million late in the session yesterday for last year’s GII Santa Ynez S. winner Renee’s Titan (Bernstein), carrying a foal from the first crop of GI Kentucky Derby winner Orb. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, Agent CLII as hip 177, the 4-year-old filly–who was campaigned by Zillah Reddam and trainer Doug O’Neill–is a half-sister to this year’s GIII Schuylerville S. winner Fashion Alert (Old Fashioned). That pair’s dam, Titan Queen (Tiznow), is a half to GII Play The King S. winner Big Band Sound (Bernstein). Renee’s Titan provided a solid return for SF Bloodstock, which purchased her upon the conclusion of her racing days from this sale last year for $280,000.
Amongst those bidding against Isaacs was Al Shaqab Racing’s U.S. racing advisor Bradley Weisbord.
“This mare checked all the boxes for me,” Isaacs noted after signing the ticket. “It’s certainly a very strong family and she’s in foal to an exciting horse. She has a good race record, and we’re just trying to develop a broodmare band.”
Asked about the day’s market, Isaacs said, “If Bradley wasn’t bidding on her I would have bought that mare a little cheaper, so it’s definitely a healthy market.” –Kelsey Riley
