Star Purchase for Biddestone

Among the first daughters of Sea The Stars (Ire) to be retiring to stud is Kaminari (Ire) (lot 1071), who was bought for €68,000 early in the opening session and was the “steal of the sale”, according to agent Johnny McKeever, who bought her on behalf of Tim and Gill Bostwick.

Sold in foal to Makfi (GB), the 3-year-old was a winner at two for Ger Lyons and Qatar Racing and she will now join the Bostwicks’ burgeoning broodmare band at Biddestone Stud in Wiltshire.

“We just fell in love with her when we saw her–she’s a really pretty mare with a lovely walk,” said Gill Bostwick, who is selling four mares at Tattersalls’ December Sale.

“Her dam’s a listed winner and she’s a half-sister to a Group 1-placed horse so it’s a lovely family to get into, we’re really excited to have bought her.”

Kaminari is a daughter of 1999 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches runner-up Karmifira (Fr) (Always Fair), whose Smart Strike daughter On Verra (Ire) was second in the G1 Prix Marcel Boussac.

The Goffs November Sale concludes today with a final selection of broodmares coming under the hammer from 10 a.m. local time.
