Redvers Swoops For Zotilla

Zotilla (Ire) (Zamindar) (lot 175) failed to find the winner’s circle in one attempt at the races in April, but the presence of a handful of standout relatives in her pedigree made her one of the choice lots of the sale. As such, she sparked a fierce bidding war that ended in the hands of David Redvers at €550,000, with Federico Barberini underbidder.

Zotilla is out of the GIII Miesque S. winner Louvain (Ire) (Sinndar {Ire}), making her a half-sister to G1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches and GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf heroine Flotilla (Fr) (Mizzen Mast), as well as listed winner Louvakhova (Maria’s Mon). Louvain is a half-sister to this year’s G1 Sprint Cup winner G Force (Ire) (Tamayuz {GB}), and last year’s G1 Diamond Jubilee and G1 July Cup winner Lethal Force (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) appears under the third dam.

Redvers revealed that Zotilla had been purchased for a partnership between Tweenhills Stud, Lordship Stud and Ecurie des Monceaux, with the view to breeding foals from her for the commercial market in France. She will be covered by Invincible Spirit (Ire) next year.

“Monceaux are very commercial as are Lordship Stud, so it’s just a bit of a partnership to try to make some money,” he explained. “She’ll stay in Monceaux. She’s just a beautiful mare; one of the standout mares of the year. She had fantastic movement and great pedigree, and we’ll keep her [foals] French-bred.”
