Bayern Fires Bullet in Arcadia

Kaleem Shah’s GI Breeders’ Cup Classic hero Bayern (Offlee Wild) sped a bullet four panels in company with Pearl Spectre (Street Cry {Ire}) Friday morning, getting the distance in a best-of-43 :46.20 with the latter timed in :46.45. The Bob Baffert charge equaled the time of the Richard Baltas-trained Brother Soldier (Brother Soldier). Another possibility for champion sophomore colt and Horse of the Year who also scored in the GI William Hill Haskell Invitational S., GII Pennsylvania Derby and GII Woody Stephens, Bayern’s next start has not been determined. 

“This is his second breeze back,” commented Baffert. “He did it pretty easy. I didn’t think he was going that fast. It looked like he was galloping. I just told him to cruise around there, but he did it pretty easy.”
