Red’ Looks to Get Back On Track

Last term’s GIII Hutcheson S. and GII Fountain of Youth S. winner Wildcat Red (D’Wildcat) looks to return to his winning ways in today’s Sunshine Millions Classic at Gulfstream Park. Third in the GI Haskell Invitational S. at Monmouth July 27, the Honors Stable Corp runner could only manage fifth when cutting back in distance for Saratoga’s GI King’s Bishop S. Aug. 23. Third as the even-money favorite in Remington’s GIII Oklahoma Derby Sept. 28, the Jose Garoffalo pupil finished second behind the reopposing East Hall (Graeme Hall) in the Millions Classic Preview at Gulfstream Park West Nov. 8.

H. Jack Hendricks and Roger Justice’s Ohio Derby winner East Hall was sixth to Vicar’s In Trouble (Into Mischief) in the GII Super Derby Sept. 6, but turned the tables on that rival with a 16-1 upset of the GII Indiana Derby Oct. 4 prior to his win in the Preview last time.

Kiaran McLaughlin saddles the favorite in Godolphin Racing’s Transparent (Bernardini), who captured a Belmont optional claimer Sept. 18 and finished eighth next out in Aqueduct’s GI Cigar Mile last time Nov. 29.
