Taylor Made Announces Organizational Changes

Taylor Made Sales Agency has announced a series of organizational shifts effective immediately, most notably the assumption of new responsibilities for Marshall and Joe Taylor.

Marshall, son of company president Duncan Taylor, is one of a younger generation of Taylors taking on new, substantial roles in the family business. He will fulfill the position of Assistant to the VP of Marketing and Public Sales Operations.

“I’m really excited to help my family and everyone in the office,” said Marshall. “I want to do the best job I can for the farm and work hard for the customers.”

Marshall’s one-year internship will familiarize him with the sales aspects of the Taylor Made operation. Previously a division manager on the farm, he will now assist his uncle, Mark Taylor, with recruitment and customer service and communication.

“It’s a great opportunity to get involved and learn, because [sales] is the one aspect I haven’t had a lot of experience doing,” he continued. “It’s really exciting to learn from everybody from the Account Managers at Taylor Made to my uncles and my dad.”

The new role comes after a long history of involvement in various sectors of the Thoroughbred industry. A graduate of the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s Degree in Racetrack Management and a minor in Business, Marshall has supplemented his work at Taylor Made with time spent at King’s Equine, Crossroads Farm & Racing and Shawnee Farm. He gained racetrack experience working for Todd Pletcher at Belmont Park.

“I worked on the farm since I was eight years old,” Marshall explained. “My first job was picking up rocks with my granddad. As I got older, when I turned 12 or 13, I started getting paid $1 an hour to work in the yearling barns. Since then, I’ve worked with the broodmares and the stallions.”

Joe, son of VP of Boarding Operations Frank Taylor, also graduated from the University of Arizona Racetrack Industry Program with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science with an emphasis in Business Management. He has accepted the position of Division Manager of the Casey, Mackey Pine, Bona Terra D and Ivywood divisions.

Joe, too, has undergone extensive preparation for his new role, including over two years of service as Yearling Manager for WinStar Farm and a stint working for trainer Dale Romans.

“I’m proud of all the next generation, who we call ‘nexters’,” added President Duncan Taylor. “It’s nice to have family that is interested and has the same work ethic, the same morals and ethics as your team.”

In another organizational shift, John Hall will move from the position of Yearling Manager to Assistant to VP of Boarding Operations. With Hall’s previous role vacant, General Farm Manager Tom Hamm will take on the role of Yearling Manager in addition to his existing responsibilities.

As a result of Marshall Taylor moving to the Sales Division, Alex Payne–son of partner Pat Payne–will switch his focus from Division Manager with Broodmares to Division Manager of Yearlings.
