Palace Malice Rejoins Pletcher Barn

Three Chimneys Farm and Dogwood Stable’s Palace Malice (Curlin) was expected to leave Dogwood’s Aiken, South Carolina base Thursday night and rejoin trainer Todd Pletcher’s barn at Palm Beach Downs Friday morning.

“He is pretty fit and feisty, and Todd is going to have trouble holding him on the ground until his first scheduled race May 2–the [GIII] Westchester S. at Belmont Park,” Dogwood president Cot Campbell said. “He has thrived here, after a hiatus in the fall to recover from a bone bruise, presumably incurred during the running of the [GI] Whitney S. at Saratoga. Dr. Larry Bramlage had prescribed a long period of steady, but mild exercise to ease him into a training program for a five-race campaign.”

After the Westchester, the 2013 GI Belmont S. winner and 2014 Metropolitan H. hero is expected to defend his Met Mile title, followed by the GI Whitney S., GI Jockey Club Gold Cup and GI Breeders’ Cup Classic.
