I Spent It Continues to Progress

Alex & JoAnn Lieblong and Three Chimneys Farm’s I Spent It (Super Saver) breezed a half-mile in :48.80 yesterday at Oaklawn in his second work since undergoing surgery for a knee chip last fall. 

“Just building him up,” trainer Tony Dutrow said. “It went so good last time. We knew because he had a workout that he would obviously be more fit, more into it. And, he was. Maybe if we had gone from the half-mile pole [instead of the three-eighths], he would have gone a little bit too fast.” 

The GII Saratoga Special S. hero was second to “TDN Rising Star” Competitive Edge (Super Saver) in the Spa’s GI Hopeful S. Sept. 1 and finished sixth when last seen in Belmont’s GI Champagne S. Oct. 4. The bay is currently under consideration for the GII Rebel S. Mar. 14 or the Gazebo S. Mar. 21 and is also eligible for an allowance.
