Field of 11 Ready to Invade ‘Beach’

Night Prowler (Giant’s Causeway), winner of the GIII Dania Beach S. Jan. 3 and close third-place finisher in the Pulpit S. Nov. 29, gets the slight nod as the 5-2 morning-line favorite for Saturday’s GIII Palm Beach S. at Gulfstream. The Paul Pompa Jr. homebred is the first foal out of two-time graded stakes winner Mary’s Follies (More Than Ready).

“He’s a nice horse,” trainer Chad Brown said. “We got him last summer as a 2-year-old and he was training really average. He was a nervous horse. Mr. Pompa agreed to let us geld the horse. He’s a good horseman, himself. He said, ‘Let’s geld the horse and give him a chance.’”

Dubai Sky (Candy Ride {Arg}), a narrow victor of the Kitten’s Joy S. Jan. 24, may be the controlling speed. The Three Chimneys Farm and Besilu runner enters riding a three-race winning streak. “He doesn’t give you more than he has to, but he always seems to have a little more left,” trainer Bill Mott said.

Divisidero (Kitten’s Joy) lit up the toteboard at 25-1 with a come-from-behind maiden win over course-and-distance at first asking Feb. 7. He is trained by Buff Bradley.
