Sheikh Fahad Al Thani Saddles Up for Charity

Sheikh Fahad Al Thani will ride in Limerick Racecourse's charity race to benefit Irish Injury Jockeys Apr. 25. The Qatar Racing owner was challenged to ride by his Irish racing representative Peter Moloney and will face the likes of Johnny Murtagh, amongst others.

“I'm very honoured to be asked to ride for such a worthy charity as Irish Injured Jockeys,” Sheikh Fahad told Racing Post. “I have been on a strict died and a tough training regime to get fit for the race. I have also been riding out most days for the last month and enjoying every second. I can't wait for the race.”

Irish Injured Jockeys chairman Ruby Walsh added, “We are thrilled the race has received such interest and support and we're really looking forward to the charity raceday. The maximum field we can cater for is 14 runners, so based on entries we might have to run two divisions on the day with a potential fundraising prospect of €28,000, which would be a great result for our injured riders.”
