All eyes will be on GISW Condo Commando (Tiz Wonderful) in Saturday's GII Gazelle S. at the Big A.
The daughter of 2004 GII Black-Eyed Susan S. heroine Yearly Report (General Meeting) returned from the bench with a sharp win in the Busher S. over the inner track Feb. 21. The Michael Dubb, Bethlehem Stables and Elkstone Group colorbearer won Aqueduct's GII Demoiselle S. by 11 1/2 lengths in November.
“This race is important and earning more [Kentucky Oaks] points at the same time are very, very important for us, and for her, too,” trainer Rudy Rodriguez said of last summer's GI Spinaway S. winner. “I believe she is coming up to the race as good as she can be and she has all the talent, but in a race like this the other horses are going to be tough.”
'TDN Rising Star' Wonder Gal (Tiz Wonderful) kicks off her sophomore campaign here. A runaway debut winner versus state-breds in Belmont's Lynbrook S. July 6, the Treadway Racing Stable runner followed a second-place finish in the GI Frizette S. Oct. 4 with a close third in the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies last time Nov. 1.
Puca (Big Brown), a troubled sixth in the Juvenile Fillies, looks to get back on track after a fourth-place finish in Gulfstream's one mile GII Davona Dale S. Feb. 21. The Donegal Racing colorbearer was tabbed as a 'TDN Rising Star' after airing by 16 lengths in a Belmont maiden special weight last October.
Fellow 'TDN Rising Star' Sweet Corine (Pulpit), a half-sister to MGISW Verrazano (More Than Ready), heads straight to the big leagues after her impressive maiden breaker at Gulfstream Jan. 18.
