A half-hour after the GI Santa Anita Derby is contested Saturday afternoon, the graded stakes action rolls on at the Arcadia oval with a full field of sophomore fillies set to go in the GIII Providencia S. In addition to a number of entrants with previous graded stakes experience, the nine-furlong turf test features the first try against winners for pair of impressive recent maiden graduates. Frosty Friday (Eskendereya) jetted clear in the lane to annex a one-mile special weight event over this course Mar. 1, a performance which earned her 'TDN Rising Star' status. Trained by Mark Casse and carrying the familiar colors of Gary Barber, the bay makes her third career start in this spot, having checked in third in a five-furlong dash on dirt at Churchill Downs May 15. She will be joined in the starting gate by Stepaside Farms LLC's Entrechat (Giant's Causeway), installed as the 4-1 second choice on the morning line off a runaway score going 6 1/2 furlongs down the hill here Feb. 14–an effort that was validated when the second and fourth-place finishers from that event came back to complete the exacta in a Mar. 15 contest. The dark bay adds Lasix for this first try at an extended distance. In contrast to the lightly-raced maiden winners, DP Racing's Prize Exhibit (GB) (Showcasing {GB}) makes her 11th career start here, and has been tabbed as the 7-2 morning line favorite. The dark bay won twice from eight starts as a juvenile in Great Britain while under the care of Jamie Osborne, and shipped to this venue to finish fourth in the one-mile GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies' Turf Oct. 31. Kept in America with trainer James Cassidy following that race, she most recently registered a half-length victory in a one-mile optional claimer over the local course Jan. 25.
