Pankhurst out of Guineas picture

Trainer John Gosden has reported that leading Guineas entrant Richard Pankhurst (GB) (Raven’s Pass), who was due to make his seasonal reappearance in Thursday’s G3 Craven S. at Newmarket, has suffered a setback and will miss out on both assignments. “Richard Pankhurst was found to be tight in his hind quarter after working nicely on Saturday and will miss his intended prep in the G3 Craven Stakes,” Gosden told Racing Post. “There is no point going for the Guineas after missing a trial so he won’t be going to Newmarket.” The chestnut hasn’t been seen since winning the listed Chesham S. at Royal Ascot by over three lengths in the colors of Gosden’s wife Rachel Hood, who also bred the colt. He was subsequently sold privately to Godolphin.
