Dolniya Could Have Coronation Date
The Aga Khan’s G1 Dubai Sheema Classic victress Dolniya (Fr) (Azamour {Ire}) has been given an option to travel to England after trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre entered her in the G1 Coronation Cup on Epsom Derby Day June 6.
“Dolniya has come out of Dubai very well,” de Royer-Dupre noted. “She has a few options. She could either run in the Coronation Cup or stay at home for races in France. She is entered in the [G1] Prix Ganay [at Longchamp May 3] and the other race for her is the [G1] Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud [June 28].”
The conditioner said the 4-year-old’s plans will hinge on the going.
“It will depend on the ground because she does not like the soft,” he said. “If we have too much rain in France, it is likely she will go to Epsom. I think Epsom will be OK for her; she stays well and the long home straight will help.”
A total of 24 have been entered for the Coronation Cup. Other entrants include last year’s one-two Cirrus des Aigles (Fr) (Even Top {Ire}) and Flintshire (GB) (Dansili {GB}); Godolphin’s progressive Manatee (GB) (Monsun {Ger}); last year’s G1 Yorkshire Oaks winner Tapestry (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}); the promising Free Eagle (Ire) (High Chaparral {Ire}); popular gelding Red Cadeaux (GB) (Cadeaux Genereux {GB}) and Classic winner Just the Judge (Ire) (Lawman {Fr}).
