Warrior’s Reward to Shuttle to Spendthrift Australia

Warrior’s Reward (Medaglia d’Oro) will be the first Spendthrift stallion to shuttle to the operation’s new farm in Victoria, Australia when he ships Down Under for the 2015 Southern Hemisphere breeding season later this year. The Grade I winner, who currently sits seventh in the North American year-to-date second-crop sire list, will participate in the farm’s Share The Upside program, offering Australian breeders a similar opportunity to those in the U.S.; his Share The Upside fee will be A$13,750, and his standard live foal contract fee will be A$11,000.

“Warrior’s Reward sold out quickly on Share The Upside in America, and breeders who took advantage of the program now have a lifetime breeding right in an up-and-coming young sire whose first crop was so successful that we were able to increase his stud fee on the open market from US$15,000 to US$25,000,” said Spendthrift Australia owner B. Wayne Hughes. “Going into the 2015 breeding season in America, Warrior’s Reward shares were trading for US$94,500, which is over three times more than the Share The Upside investment for the breeder. The program works, and we’ve proven that in America with several stallions.”
