Green Moon Retired

Group 1 Melbourne Cup hero Green Moon (Ire) (Montjeu {Ire}–Green Noon {Fr}, by Green Tune) has been retired following a last-place finish in the G1 The Bundaberg Rum Doomben Cup Saturday. The 8-year-old, trained by Robert Hickmott, was a resident of Australia since 2011. In addition to his Melbourne Cup victory in 2012, Green Moon captured the G1 Turnbull S. earlier that year. Green Moon also sported wins in the G2 Blarney S. and the G3 Newcastle Cup for N C Williams and Mr. and Mrs. L J Williams. The Irish-bred entire earned $5,376,412 in 34 starts, winning seven. Stud plans are undecided.
