Sole Power Ground Dependent
Sabena Power’s Sole Power (GB) (Kyllachy {GB})’s destination this weekend depends entirely on whether the ground is quicker at Haydock or The Curragh. Eddie Lynam’s star sprinter is in the G2 Betfred Temple S. at Haydock, a race he won in 2011 and was second in a year later, but he could stay at home for the G2 Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands S. One thing in The Curragh’s favor is that Richard Hughes, Sole Power’s regular rider, will be in Ireland to partner Ivawood (Ire) (Zebedee {GB}) in the G1 Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas. His main early season aim is the G1 King’s Stand S. at Royal Ascot, a race he has won for the past two seasons.
Lynam told the Irish Times, “He’ll go wherever the ground comes up ok for him. Basically it’s all about the King’s Stand with him, but like all of us as he’s getting older he’s getting heavier between his races so I’d like to get a run into him. If the ground is ok I wouldn’t mind running him at The Curragh and we know Richard Hughes will be there so there wouldn’t be a problem in terms of a jockey. We’ll simply have to see about ground.”
