Royal Ascot Possible For Gailo Chop

Gailo Chop (Fr) (Deportivo {GB}), who ran Solow (GB) (Singspiel {Ire}) to 1 1/2 lengths when second in Sunday’s G1 Prix d’Ispahan, could become trainer Antoine de Watrigant’s first Royal Ascot starter, with a possible date in the G1 Prince of Wales’s S. June 17.

De Watrigant said his charge emerged from the race–his first of the season–in good order.

“He is very well,” the conditioner said of the 4-year-old gelding. “He traveled back home this morning and everything is all right. It is possible Gailo Chop will go to Royal Ascot. It will be good for him. The distance of the race there is okay for him and I think Ascot is a good track. All the horses that run there are very good and Gailo Chop is a good horse. He would be my first runner at Ascot. For us to go there and for a race like the Prince of Wales’s S. is very exciting.”
