Promise Me Silver Preps For Acorn
Robert Luttrell’s undefeated homebred Promise Me Silver (Silver City) breezed five furlongs in :59.40 at Churchill Downs Friday in preparation for her next start in the GI Acorn S. June 6.
“She looked very good,” Trainer Bret Calhoun’s assistant Dennis Geier said. “Everything was perfect, she galloped out good.”
With Brian Hernandez Jr. in the irons, the gray doled out splits of :12, :23.80 and :35.60 before galloping out six furlongs in 1:12.20.
“She went great,” Hernandez said. “She did everything Bret [Calhoun] wanted her to do. Everything went smooth.”
A perfect eight-for-eight, Promise Me Silver was last seen winning the GIII Eight Belles S. on the GI Kentucky Oaks undercard May 1. The Texas-bred, who will likely ship to New York Wednesday, will be piloted by Hall of Famer Mike Smith for the first time in the Acorn.
