Dual G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Treve (Fr) (Motivator {GB}) has exited her G2 Prix Corrida win Friday in good order, according to trainer Criquette Head-Maarek, and is on track for the G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud June 28.
The 5-year-old Al Shaqab colorbearer was making her first start since winning last year's Arc when she romped by four lengths over Group 1 winner We Are (GB) (Dansili {GB}) in the Corrida.
“Treve has recovered very well from her race,” said Head-Maarek. “[On Saturday] she just stayed in the paddock, which is something I do after every race. She was just walked and had a roll. She came back and ate up. [On Sunday] she trotted and is very supple. For her, it's like she hasn't run at all.”
The conditioner noted Treve's long layoff could have made her vulnerable, but that didn't prove the case.
“She hadn't run since October and could have been short of work and there were a lot of horses in the race that had already had a run,” Head-Maarek noted. “But she has been so much better since the beginning of the year, more supple. Her feet are much better and so is her back. Now we go for the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, then the [G1 Prix] Vermeille and the Arc.”
Treve will attempt to become the first horse to win the Arc three times at Longchamp in October.
