Last year's G1 Racing Post Trophy victor Elm Park (GB) (Phoenix Reach {Ire}) will get a break after finishing 11th of 12 in the G1 Epsom Derby June 6, according to trainer Andrew Balding. The Qatar Racing colorbearer, who won four straight races as a juvenile culminating in the Racing Post Trophy, was a respectable third behind the Derby one-two Golden Horn (GB) (Cape Cross {Ire}) and Jack Hobbs (GB) (Halling) in the G2 Dante S. May 14, but was disappointing in the Derby after making the early running.
“Elm Park will now have a bit of time off as he has a bit of a niggle,” said Balding. “There will be no rush to get him back. Hopefully he will be fine.”
